From the Church to the Earth: The Heart of Pukerau Wild & Cured

The storm is howling outside the old church tonight, rattling the windows and making you feel every bit of how isolated and exposed this place can be. But storms are nothing new around here.

People often ask how I ended up restoring this old, rundown building in Pukerau, clearing the land, and crafting natural tallow balms and plant-based serums. They look at the rustic setup and think it’s just a quiet lifestyle change. But there is a very deliberate purpose behind it all.

When you live close to the land—working through the seasons, watching the weather roll in, and fixing up a historic place with your own two hands—your perspective shifts. You want what you use to be as honest and real as your surroundings. I wanted to step away from the chemical cocktails and empty buzzwords. While some might look at an overgrown paddock and see weeds, I saw a living apothecary waiting to happen. That’s why Pukerau Wild & Cured is built on a simple promise: a true seed-to-shelf range with zero greenwashing.

Even more importantly, this business has a job to do. Every single product crafted here directly contributes to the restoration of this old church. When you support the shop, you aren't just buying skincare—you are helping to bring this historic building back to life.

With spring just around the corner, I’m standing in the greenhouse looking at rows of blank seed trays. The soil is ready, the herbs are waiting, and the next chapter is starting right here, warts and all.
