Help & Customer Care
Every product that leaves the Pukerau church studio is made by hand, in small batches, from ingredients grown, wild-harvested, and rendered right here on our five-acre Southland property. We want your experience — from first click to last drop — to feel just as considered. If something isn't right, we'll make it right.
2
Shipping
We ship anywhere in New Zealand.
Because every item is crafted to order in small batches, please allow 2–5 business days for us to prepare and dispatch your parcel. Once it leaves the studio, estimated delivery times are:
-
South Island: 2–4 business days
-
North Island: 3–5 business days
-
Rural addresses: add 1–2 business days
You'll receive a confirmation email with tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

Returns & Exchanges
We stand behind everything we make. If something isn't quite right, here's how we handle it.
Unopened products If you change your mind, we accept returns on unopened, unused products within 30 days of delivery. The item must be in its original condition and packaging. Please email us before sending anything back so we can arrange the return together.
Opened skincare products For hygiene reasons, we're unable to accept returns on opened skincare products. This is standard practice across the industry and protects every customer who receives a product from our studio.
Damaged or incorrect orders If your order arrives damaged or we've sent you the wrong item, please get in touch within 7 days of delivery with a photo and your order number. We'll sort it out straight away — a replacement or full refund, your choice.
Refunds Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days of us receiving the return.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is tallow, and why do you use it? Tallow is rendered beef fat and one of the oldest skincare ingredients there is. It's rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, and contains fatty acids that closely mirror the lipid profile of human skin — which is why it absorbs so well and feels so natural. We render our own tallow here on the property, so we know exactly where it comes from and how it's been handled. It's the backbone of our soaps and balms.
What does "wild-harvested" mean? Wild-harvested means we gather plants growing freely in their natural environment on our five-acre Southland property — dandelion, calendula, and other botanicals — rather than farming them under controlled conditions. Wild plants often develop a richer profile of beneficial compounds as a result. We combine wild-harvested ingredients with others we grow ourselves, so everything starts as close to the source as possible.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin? Our formulations are free from synthetic fragrances, artificial preservatives, and common irritants. Tallow is generally very well tolerated by sensitive skin. That said, everyone's skin is different, so we always recommend patch testing a new product on a small area before full use — especially if you have known allergies or a skin condition. If you'd like the full ingredient list for any product before you order, just ask.
What is the shelf life of your products? Our products are made in small batches without synthetic preservatives, so shelf life varies by product type.
-
Soaps: 12–18 months unopened; best used within 6 months of opening.
-
Balms: 12 months; store with the lid on, away from direct sunlight and heat.
-
Serums: 6–12 months; keep in a cool, dry place away from light.
How should I store my products? Keep your Pukerau Wild & Cured products somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight and heat. Bathrooms can be steamy, so a bedroom shelf or dressing table is often a better home for balms and serums. A little care goes a long way.
Do you use any synthetic ingredients? We keep our formulations as close to nature as we can get. No synthetic fragrances, no artificial colours, no parabens. When we use an ingredient, we know exactly what it is and where it came from. Full ingredient lists are on each product page — and if you have a question about a specific ingredient, just get in touch.
Thank you for supporting a small Southland maker. Every purchase helps restore the historic church we call home, and that means everything to us.
