When you run a small-batch apothecary on your own, every new batch is a quiet conversation between ingredients, time, and technique. Lately, I’ve been experimenting heavily with the age-old debate of Cold Process versus Hot Process.

My classic Cold Process (CP) Velvet Coal cures slowly into a sleek, polished bar with a rich, creamy lather. But the Hot Process (HP) method requires a lot more hands-on effort at the stove, resulting in a wonderfully rugged, textured top and a distinct rustic character.

Before I decide which direction to take this recipe long-term, I want to hear from you.
